Whether you are a complete beginner who would like to know how to accurately use a map and compass and navigate a route through the countryside, or someone who has some map reading skills but would like to boost your confidence and venture onto more challenging walks, or are even someone looking to gain an accredited qualification to assist local groups and organisations - we have a course for you.
Our Skills Academy has been providing courses for individuals and groups for over 5 years, and we pride ourselves on providing the very best in terms of customer service and individual attention in order for our guests to get the maximum benefit from our courses. To ensure that our students get essential personal attention, we have to limit the number of places on a course in order to provide the best instructor to student ratio. Our instructors have many years of outdoor experience including extensive hiking and leading in the UK and throughout the world. All our instructors are MTA qualified, are DBS checked and hold a current outdoor first aid certificate.
As well as our regular scheduled courses, we also offer bespoke courses and workshops to other groups so the training can be tailored to your specific objectives. For many of our courses we make full use of the stunning countryside surrounding the South Downs National Park, the Surrey Hills and other AONB. However we are always open to requests for customised courses and a location convenient and relevant for you. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Our current courses are;
- Open the Map
- Night Navigation
- NNAS Bronze Award
- NNAS Silver Award
- Straight to Silver Award
- Mountain Ready
- Junior Navigator
